North American aviation company Skyservice Business Aviation has acquired a heavy-body aircraft hangar and an office facility from Bombardier in Montréal, Canada.
The 153,000ft² complex includes a hangar covering an 80,000ft² area, which provides more capacity for Skyservice to carry out nose-to-tail heavy aircraft maintenance.
It has doubled the company’s presence at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) in Canada.
The facility will also help Skyservice meet increasing demand for aircraft management at the airport.
Skyservice president and CEO Benjamin Murray said: “We are pleased to acquire this cutting-edge facility, which will allow us to deliver our award-winning services to even more aircraft owners, clients and fleet operators at YUL.
“Skyservice was founded in Montréal in 1986 and we are committed to continuing to invest in aviation excellence, innovation and sustainability at this airport, creating more opportunities for hands-on training and employment, and offering aircraft owners access to a full suite of best-in-class services and support.”
Earlier this year, Skyservice launched Toronto South, a private jet centre for managed aircraft clients, at Toronto Pearson International Airport YYZ.
Toronto South comprises a 90,000ft² hangar and a fixed base operation (FBO) that covers 20,000ft².
Skyservice operates FBO facilities and offers aircraft management and charter services across North America.
In April this year, the company’s Toronto Midfield FBO was voted one of the continent’s top 20% best FBOs.
It also received the Best FBO in Canada award in Professional Pilot Magazine’s Preferences Regarding Aviation Services and Equipment (PRASE) Survey.
In December 2019, YUL announced that a new connections centre at the airport was due to begin first-phase operations.
The C$50m ($37.7m) connections centre was intended to boost the development of air service at the airport and establish it as an international air traffic hub.
It was funded entirely by Canadian airport authority Aeroports de Montreal (ADM).
