Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC), the operator of Brisbane Airport (BNE) in Australia, has announced the commencement of construction work for Geodis’ warehouse at the airport’s Export Park.

The purpose-built facility on Westringia Road will feature 4,500m² of warehouse space including 4,000 pallet sites, 1,500m² of bulk space, and a cool room for perishable items.

It will also include 600m² of office space across two levels.

BAC commercial executive general manager Martin Ryan said: “Brisbane Airport’s size, accessibility and amenity continue to attract great commercial and industrial businesses and we are extremely pleased that Geodis has selected BNE as the perfect place to continue to grow its business.

“The BNE Property Team is gearing up for a busy year and we are building to match the extraordinary demand for industrial properties in South East Queensland.”

The facility will enable Geodis to increase import and export services including customs brokerage, regulatory compliance, and complete supply chain transparency.

Geodis Australia Pacific sub-regional managing director Stuart Asplet added: “Geodis in Brisbane already has a strong package of solutions for our customers. This new, strategically positioned facility will not only enable us to meet the fast-changing needs of our customers today but will give us ample room to grow our offerings in the market.”

This project is projected to be finished by the middle of this year. It will generate more than 60 jobs during construction.

GEODIS is a transport and logistics services provider with a network spanning nearly 170 nations. It has more than 41,000 employees across the world.

In August last year, GE Aviation started the construction of its warehouse at Brisbane Airport. The project is also expected to complete in mid-2022.
