Air China has extended its cargo handling agreements with France-based Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) at London Heathrow Airport (LHR) in the UK and Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in Germany.
At Heathrow, Air China renewed its cargo handling contract by an additional three years.
In Germany, the contract has been extended by 12 months.
With the new agreements, WFS has further extended its partnership with Air China. This also includes handling contracts in London, Paris CDG, Madrid, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, New York JFK and Dallas Fort Worth. In a statement, WFS said: “Both airports are key hubs for the airline in Europe, connecting customers with several Chinese airports.”
WFS stated that both Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 aircraft operate flights from London.
At Frankfurt, the carrier provides B777 passenger and freighter services.
WFS China vice-president Clare Liu said: “We are honoured that Air China has renewed its handling agreements with WFS at two of its biggest hubs in Europe.
“We have a dynamic team managing the airline’s requirements and through WFS’ stability of service and customer focus, we will continue to support Air China’s growth on the highly important trade lane connecting Europe and China.”
Last month, WFS unveiled a new cargo handling terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) in the US. The company also secured a 20-year lease to handle the airport’s new 100,000ft² Cargo Building C.
The new building, which offers facilities for both cargo and freighter handling, features 11 dock doors, a container bypass system and drive-up ramp access.
In the same month, the company signed ground handling contracts with 12 airlines in North America as the aviation sector’s rebound from the pandemic accelerates.
