Dubai-based carrier Emirates has renewed and expanded its ground handling partnership contract in Northern Europe with aviation logistics specialist Menzies Aviation.

According to the agreement, Menzies Aviation will provide Emirates with ground-handling services at Oslo Airport (OSL), Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) and Copenhagen Airport (CPH) for five years.

The Copenhagen Airport in Denmark is a new addition to the expanded partnership.

Menzies Aviation Northern Europe vice-president Thomas Hoff Andersson said: “We’re thrilled to have been chosen again as Emirates’ preferred ground handling partner and in particular proud that our contract has not only been renewed but extended to incorporate Copenhagen Airport.

“This has only been possible through the hard work and exceptional standards of our team on the ground, who have cultivated a deep understanding of Emirates’ service needs. We look forward to strengthening our relationship further with Emirates through the delivery of best-in-class services.”

Under the collaboration, Menzies Aviation professionals will service all Emirates flights at the three airports.

According to the company website, Menzies Aviation provides logistics services at more than 200 locations in more than 35 countries. The scope of services includes ground services, cargo, fuelling, executive services and offline services, among others.

In February, Menzies Aviation commenced the trial of Vestergaard Elephant e-BETA, an electric de-icing unit, at Oslo Airport.

The success of the trial, stated to be the first in Europe, will lead to the electrification of around 97% of Menzies’ Oslo-based ground support equipment.
