Security screening equipment provider Smiths Detection has strengthened its architecture capability by collaborating with artificial intelligence threat detection software firm SeeTrue.

This partnership will see SeeTrue integrating its threat products with Smiths Detection’s X-ray screening equipment.

The move is part of the ongoing Ada Initiative of Smiths Detection to expedite the adoption of open architecture (OA) across aviation, ports, borders and others.

The OA facilitates the integration of hardware, software and algorithms from different product suppliers, thereby improving security outcomes.

SeeTrue co-founder and CEO Assaf Frenkel said: “SeeTrue is excited to partner with Smiths Detection, which has one of the largest footprints for security screening technology worldwide. Open architecture is vital in the transition to CT. This partnership gives customers the freedom of choice in detection software, X-Ray and CT machines.”

Smiths Detection, a division of the Smiths Group, provides automatic threat detection algorithms that can be integrated into its X-ray screening equipment.

SeeTrue and Smiths Detection will exhibit their shared solution at Passenger Terminal Expo in Amsterdam from 14-16 March 2023.

Smiths Detection digital global director Cymoril Metivier said: “By collaborating with partners such as SeeTrue through our open architecture initiative, we’re able to offer our customers a greater choice of solutions that have the potential to enhance their security systems and capabilities.”

Earlier this month, Smiths Detection partnered with Dutch firm GRASP Innovations to incorporate GRASP’s sensor technology into its security checkpoints.

Last month, Smiths Detection expanded its portfolio of automatic object recognition algorithms with the launch of iCMORE Prohibited Items.
