Mira Technologies Group has selected Integrated Defense and Security Solutions (IDSS) for the installation of its DETECT™ 1000 Advanced Computed Tomography Checkpoint systems at Craiova International Airport (CRA) in Craiova, Romania.

The group also awarded a contract for the deployment of Italian firm Gilardoni-developed automatic tray return system, TRS Breva, at the airport.

While enhancing operator efficiency, the DETECT 1000 delivers ‘superior’ image quality, claimed IDSS.

Its ‘intuitive’ user interface offers an advanced platform for detecting all sorts of threats.

Along with TRS Breva, this solution is expected to increase the airport’s capacity while meeting the international security standards at the checkpoint.

The Breva system was developed to streamline the processing of cabin baggage at checkpoints and increase throughput.

This technology features a ‘complex and advanced’ data collection package, including RFID readers and cameras, which aids in the processing of all travellers.

IDSS’ DETECT 1000 has obtained certification from the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) and the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for the detection of explosives in carry-on baggage.

Additionally, its image quality and X-ray data have been improved for the Non-Intrusive Inspection (NII) of mail, parcels and cargo of all sizes.

IDSS president and CEO Jeffrey Hamel said: “As restrictions from the pandemic continue to lift and air travel returns, we anticipate the DETECT 1000 integrated with the BREVA will assist Craiova International Airport by providing increased checkpoint capacity and operator efficiencies.”

In 2019, Abu Dhabi Airports Company entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Development Group to develop Romanian airports.
